Parliament to examine whether the FA can “comply fully with its duties” Vote Football want you to ask your MP to contribute
7 February ~ On Thursday Parliament will debate the FA’s failure to reform after a motion of no confidence in the governing body. Back in July 2016 the government issued an ultimatum to the FA, threatening to remove its public funding if it did not make serious changes to the way it runs football.
However, having seemingly field to act on the best practice guidance – which includes moving towards greater gender equality boards – Damian Collins MP said that the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee will examine whether the FA can “comply fully with its duties”.
The organisation Vote Football are asking fans to email their local MPs to persuade as many as possible to turn up for the debate. At the time of writing fans from 102 clubs had managed to message 399 of the 650 constituencies. You can support the campaign here.
