11 August ~ Last season Wolves supporters were stuck in a state of apathy. Then over summer Fosun, a Chinese investment group, efficiently and professionally completed their takeover, transforming the mood among the fanbase.
Signings have been made from Benfica and Atlético Madrid, with more big names being suggested by the day. Yet their opening draw at Rotherham was watched by the new owners and so-called super agent Jorge Mendes – and that’s where, as Adam Bate explains on The Set Pieces, it becomes troubling. Fosun have admitted that they don’t have much football knowledge, so are in the hands of people such as Mendes to make money. Is that really a good thing for the future of the club?
